Snow!!

Last Friday (the 30th) we got our first snow!!! It was really really really light, (it barely covered the ground) and now it's all melted. But I thought I'd post that interesting bit of news... especially for the benefit of all you southern girls. =) The picture's not very good... I'm sorry!! Shay simply wouldn't hold still!! He'd never seen snow before, so we can't blame the cute little guy. =)

Promises... ☺

Recently, blogging has kind of been on the back shelf for me, as you can see. I mean to post more often, truly, I do! But I log into blogger and see my dashboard... "What!?! That post was a whole week ago?!" *groan* "And I thought I had more time to come up with something interesting." Well, it appears I didn't. But I promise promise promise promise that I'll have some more pictures up soon.
(and this time I mean it)
Okay, for now... here are just a few self-pics that I took of Abby and I that day we had the photoshoot. And I know the camera strap got in the way. But this was my favorite shot! So I'm going to post it anyway.

Playing in the Leaves

"A few days ago I walked along the edge of the lake and was treated to the crunch and rustle of leaves with each step I made. The acoustics of this season are different and all sounds, no matter how hushed, are as crisp as autumn air."
Eric Sloane

I love the sound that autumn leaves make under your feet! I got to do a photoshoot in the leaves with Abby the other day. We've got tons of leaves in the front yard, and they're SO pretty!!

She wanted to balance the pumpkin on her head... as you can see, that didn't work too well at first!!

My Promise Ring

Last Thursday, Dad gave me my promise ring! We had a beautiful time over dinner at a lovely restaurant. I thank God that I have such godly, wonderful parents to share my life, my beliefs, and my dreams. Whenever I look at this ring, I'll remember the night my Dad and I agreed to be together in the issue of courtship and marriage.

I love you, Dad and Mom! Thank you for all you've done in my life, for all you've taught me, and for the love you've shown me for the sixteen years I've been blessed to share with you.

My sister, Sarah, was kind enough to model the ring for me...

But then she started getting goofy!! (don't worry, she doesn't wear a hat all the time, and when she does, it's not always backwards, and when it is, she's not always acting goofy...)

Yeah, I love you too, sis!!

Autumn Ramblings

Leaves start getting yellow and red. You can see your breath in the morning, and the frost creeps onto the ground at night. You tuck flipflops into boxes and pull on sweaters and jeans. School books get dusted off and pencils get sharpened again. A chilly breeze rustles the dry cornstalks in the garden and wildlife gets ready for winter. It's autumn!! I love taking rambling walks in the brisk air, baking yummy, warm desserts, watching the huge moon rise at night, and cuddling by the fire on rainy days. Have a happy fall, everyone!!!

As a result of a phone conversation with my longtime friend, Paige, who also happens to be a phenonminal photographer who only shoots in manual... I tried shooting only in manual mode today, too!! (I know... I'm totally amateur... I usually do just use automatic or those "cheater presets" on my camera...) But I think I like it! It's definately going to take some getting used to... bear with me!!

Side note... A friend of my brother's calls the auto setting "the little green box of death," since on Canons, the automatic mode is signified by a small green square.

Experimenting with an unusual focus...

Girlfriends in the Park

Yesterday, there was a baby shower for a young lady in our church! It was held at the beautiful town park. It was gorgeous - sunny, warm, and breezy. Afterwards, some of us girls took pictures and walked around the park barefoot. Summer's over, really? It wasn't yesterday! Warm weather was back for an afternoon visit.

Jenna, Sarah, Abby, Aleah, Roberta, and Melissa.

Melissa and Aleah.

"You see, Roberta? I really - am - ouch! - taller - than - umph - you!!"

Sarah and Aleah tried a "jumping shot," the first one I've ever taken! I think it came out pretty good - but next time I'll use a faster shutter speed to freeze their action more, don't you think?

Abby wanted to jump, too!!

Headless!!! Oh, dear!!
I love trick photography!! This is REAL - no computer editing except for the colors!! The trick is all in the posing.

Oh, of course, the girl "foot" picture!! (muddy feet, that is... we were wading in the creek!!)

Aleah wants to be a sister, too!

Information, anyone?
